A trip to Watson Falls.

We figured going to a waterfall would be a good way to cool down yesterday. Watson Falls is around 2500 feet elevation, up the North Umpqua.  The ferns are huge and primitive.

Below the trail, the water continues down.

It's much more impressive in person, with the crashing water sound and the mist sprinkling everything. This is the third tallest falls in Oregon, at 272 feet.

These maidenhair ferns live in fern heaven, shade and perpetual mist.

It was windy, a gust blew the whole waterfall off to the right. We climbed nearer but got soaked.

Here's the view across from the trail.
