Late November

Note the comma clouds lower left.

Is this a cloud formation or a chest xray of a smoker?

Rain is expected soon. At Galesville reservoir, they let the water level
way down below the boat launch to accommodate it.

These are usually at the bottom of the lake!

I'm guessing heron.

Morning: no mountain.

 Afternoon:  mountain appears!

Spot watches a video.

Spot and her stick.

The orange group hangs out together.

Spot and Toby soak up pond sun.

Toby hangs out on the deck absorbing sunshine.

Pretty day before Thanksgiving

Happy and Spot play tug of war with a twig.

Ocho loves the sun.

Ethyl and Spot cavort in the wet grass. Note the truly dead nasturtiums at left, the night frost did them in.

Tricky basking.

Hole in the sky.

Never get tired of this gorgeous sky and its many colors.

Jaws.

Spot and her twig by the pond.  She carries this around like a dog.

Now she has lost it between the rocks.  Or did she put it there on purpose?

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.... again!

Apple branches look really wintery now. Pretty fall colors are sooooo over.

Same apple tree with leaves on ground and cats.

Incredible sky to the north.

Bluest of blue sky today!

Our hill to the north has reappeared today.

A little smokey to the south, they are ruining our perfect air with "controlled slash burns".

Pampas grass plumes are gorgeous against the sky.

Is it spring yet?

It's hard to have shorter days and colder nights without longing for spring. It's a lonnng ways off. Still, this time of year has its charms, such as:

Charm 1. The weather station has lots of weather to report.

Charm 2:  The sky is fantastic every day.

Charm 3:  Disappearing north hill. Now you see it, now you don't.

Charm 4:  Afternoon sun bath.

Charm 5:  Lester shows protege, Spot, how to navigate the yard while keeping dry feet. Can't wait until he shows her snow.

22 degrees last night, oh brrrrrrrrrr!

We had an abrupt change from cloudy and warm with buckets of rain to really cold, clear and sunny!  It sure LOOKS nice out but oh my goodness it is cold.

I wimped out and took this photo through the kitchen window. Frosty!

Later it got a little warmer.

This is the water from my manual rain gauge!

Cats and Dogs

My weather station does not often use the meteorological jargon "it's raining cats and dogs" but today, that is exactly what it says! And it is, I see cats and dogs plummeting to the ground, oh wait, those are just really big raindrops.

Kitties getting their feet wet.

Pond is nearly full for the winter.

The smart cats like Rocky seek out the dry places.

And Lester.

Over a third of an inch already and it's only noon thirty!

Perfect mammata clouds

The sky is like a boiling pot.

Crows are hurrying somewhere before the rain.

The radar says it will rain any minute now. The clouds agree.

A touch of rain, a Spot of sun

Dandelion puff in upper left? Or cloud...

Huge clouds sneaking over the hills.

Half blue half white. That's what kind of day it is.

Spot is staring at flowers after frolicking in the sun. We got 0.09" of rain during the night. The wet grass makes her shake her feet one by one.
